Community Involvement
  • As President of the Board of Directors of COMEC, the Commission on Missing and Exploited Children in Memphis in 2006-2007 and Vice-President in 2008, created the fundraising and volunteering arm of the organization called Friends of COMEC, started the group's first major family-friendly fundraisers the COMEC Treasure Hunt and COMEC Kiddie Disco Ball.
  • While on the Education Committee for Memphis’ Multicultural & Religious Affairs Office in 2003, took an active role in putting together the first information kiosk for the Vietnamese community.
  • While serving on the Board of Directors of Mpact Memphis in 2002 as Community Involvement Chair organized and took part in more than 20 projects with 90 volunteers.
  • Organized the first Souper Party for Youth Villages in 2002.
  • Mentor to business students at Sheffield High School 2002.
  • Started ABC 24/UPN 30 “Get Smart. Read.” book drive to collect more than 20,000 books for children in low income schools in 2001 after being assigned the station’s first Education Reporter.
  • Guest speaker at numerous events for organizations, schools and businesses.
  • Volunteer for countless organizations such as The Ronald McDonald House, Youth Villages, Central & Frayer Libraries, Cordova Rehabilitation Center, Target House, St. Patrick’s Church, Habitat for Humanity, MIFA, Hands on Memphis, Memphis in May, Trezevant Manor, Memphis City Beautiful, Alzheimer’s Association and Volunteer Memphis, Girls, Inc., American Cancer Society, Ryan’s Hope and Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
  • Started first book drive for children in underserved pre-schools while on the Board of Tallahassee 25 as the Education Chair in 2000.
