Girls, Inc. Board Vice-Chair Stacie Waddell started "Girls Night Out for Girls, Inc."

staciewaddell.jpgIn today’s society, women need more support than ever to be successful in their lives. It doesn’t matter whether you’re a business person, a homemaker or both. Memphis transplant Stacie Waddell has proven that a strong support group can have an invaluable impact on a woman’s life.

As a young girl, Girls Inc. is where she turned for guidance. “I have a fond affection for Girls, Inc. as it was part of my life growing up,” Waddell explains. “Girls Inc. offers a safe haven for girls to participate in classes such as finance, computer programming, teen pregnancy prevention and business management as well as art and recreational sports. The programs are proven to be successful. They’re sound building blocks to a stronger community and for thousands of girls, a home away from home.”

Waddell grew up looking for role models, today she is one. Waddell is the owner of Blu Champagne, a unique clothing boutique in Memphis. She’s a philanthropist, a community leader with numerous awards and she’s a mom. “As a mother of two young children, specifically a new daughter, I recognize the importance of strong values and self-sufficiency,” explains Waddell. “I've been fortunate to have amazing mentors and a loving family.  There are many who are not so fortunate.”

Waddell is now bringing attention to young women who are still searching for direction. She’s joined the board of Girls, Inc. serving as Vice-Chair this year. She’s also using her role as an entrepreneur to raise money for her favorite organization. Waddell has created “Girls Night Out” for Girls, Inc. Ladies are encouraged to stop in the store every Thursday night in August from 5 to 7 for hors d'oeuvres, blue champagne and one-of-a-kind fashions. The proceeds will go directly to Girls, Inc. of Memphis. “I believe through Girls Inc, I have an opportunity to give back and make a difference,” says Waddell. “I encourage all women to join the fight for a greater Memphis and be a part of the Girls Inc. family.”

She also plans to showcase some of the impressive works created by the young women of Girls, Inc. and convince Mid-Southerners to invest in their futures. ”Girls, Inc. provides girls with better life choices and options through programs that are comprehensive, researched prevention-ba sed, age-progressive and proven to show results.  We equip girls with the skills and confidence needed to reach their full potential and enable them as women to hold positions of great influence. The ripple effect of these strong women into their families, neighborhoods and workplaces is profound.”

As profound as the impact Waddell is making on this community.
